For pictures and the full side of the story, do feel free to visit my blog: http://thedessertprince.blogspot.com/2012/04/outback-steakhouse.html

A glance was all we need and we settled on the Toowoomba Pasta ($23.90). Beautifully crafted little ribbons pastas which we often call fettuccine simmered in cream sauce was more than just palatable. The whole eating experience couldn't been smoother...

The steak lover's steak, a medium-rare 12 ounce Ribeye ($39.90). I would be a fool to doubt Outback's rendition since they are the people who specialize in steaks right? Espresso infused Ribeye seems appealing when we were told we could choose the style to which our beef shall be served. I can't really remember the other three choices but my partner and I found the espresso taste would be too negligible for our palette.

There's a reason why my partner recommended Outback. She was here back some time ago for work purposes and got to knew one of the staff and promised to head down someday to try out their menu.

Desserts in particular can always be appreciated but we were too full for any and besides we have somewhere in mind for our desserts. So when they served us a complimentary the Chocolate Thunder From Down Under ($15.90), we were rather surprised about it and how could we reject such a kind gesture?

The nutty brownie was too moist and heavy while the chocolate sauce added a somewhat displeasing taste to everything sweet. The cream sitting above was too much even for me, a dessert fan to sing praises about it.  Maybe we are just fussy when it come to desserts...

The food was good but the service though I have to say... Excellent! I am particular impressed when the staff took the time to explain the menu. A 10% discount was also given on courtesy of the staff. I dare say it can be comparable with Prime Society, a fine-dining restaurant that serve in my opinion the best steaks cuts in Singapore and yes. We had a great time over at Outback Steakhouse.

Our visit on Saturday afternoon was our first trip back in many, many months and the first thing I'd realised was that the capacity of the restaurant has shrunk - about half of what it used to be!

Anyways, we were promptly shown to our booth and set down to ordering our meals.  The husband had a fish burger, I ordered a no rules pasta (with both shrimps and grilled chicken) and the kids had their fries.  The burger was wolfed down in record time.  The pasta was full of shrimp and chicken pieces that I had a hard time finishing it all - thankfully the children helped too, in between chomping on their fries.

The staff were very prompt and efficient in service. When I ordered drinks for all of us, they served the kids' beverages in covered drink cups which I thought was very thoughtful of them.  And when I received the bill, I was even more surprised that they had charged me for only one drink (even though me and the two kids had Coke, the husband opted for water).  They had counted the children's drinks as part of my refillable drink order.  I wished other restaurants would follow suit in this.

    We will definitely be back.

i was running out of ideas on places to dine at in city hall and i wanted to try something new. Outback Steakhouse looked dark and sad, and i really wasnt expecting much. they are offering set lunch now even on weekends, which i thought makes quite a good deal.

they served us bread with cream cheese - and this really impressed me. the bread was warm and fluffy, and just a little crispy on the outside. it went really well with the cream cheese and i really had to restraint myself from finishing the mini loaf so that i could have space for my main course.

i had the half rack of baby back ribs with fries (this is not on the set lunch selection). the ribs were quite good - flesh was soft and fell off the bone easily. the bbq sauce was just nice - wasnt too sweet or overpowering. i was pleasantly surprised by the thick cut fries - they didnt look that appetising but tasted good with a unique thin crispy layer.

my friend enjoyed her medium rare steak (set lunch which came with soup and drink), saying that it is not easy to get the doneness precise. the steak was cooked medium well just like how the menu stated,  brown with a pink centre. she chose mashed potato for her side and it tasted really good! it had bits of potato and potato skin in it, giving it a very nice texture.

overall, i was pretty satisfied with my meal. the service staff were very polite and took the iniative to offer recommendations. i will be back to try other things on the menu.

For photos and more reviews, visit http://littlemomentsofmylife.wordpress.com (:

when a restaurant starts off with serving us bread...it creates a great first impression for me! :D i'm such a bread junkie xD especially when it's as lovely as this one (: it's a pretty unique type of bread, really dark in colour. i guessed it was pumpernickel! but had no way to verify it haha. it was wonderfully soft and fluffy, and tasted good on its own, without the need for any condiments. in fact, i felt that it didn't taste as good after i had spread the butter on it. oh well.

we ordered 3 appetizers and 2 mains because the appetizers just seemed so...APPETIZING! (for the lack of a better word :p) the pan-seared darling point crab cakes with remoulade sauce ($14.90) reminded me of the stuffed crabs i ate in malaysia a couple of years ago! they were sooo lovely (: crispy patties with fluffy crabmeat inside it. i love it for the convenience xD and taste of course! the remoulade sauce (no idea what that is) was really tasty!

for some reason, our two other appetizers arrived after the main courses, but no worries, we just ate them all together! ;) the aussie cheese fries with monterey jack cheese and bacon with spicy ranch dressing ($13.90) was voted the best appetizers unanimously among us. the fries were fragrant on their own, and with the cheese, they were just superb! :D although the cheese solidified after awhile, but it was still tasty (: and the ranch dressing was an interesting blend of tatar sauce and other things which i couldnt identify.

the buffalo wings ($15.90) on the other hand, were disappointing. we should have ordered the mushrooms instead (another dish on the appetizer list - TRY IT! And tell me how it tastes ;) ). they were just fried chicken wings, which were not at all spectacular. :/ sad.

the pork ribs on the barbie ($32.90) were not bad i guess. i've tried better ones, but this one was pretty good in the sense that the meat was tender and falling-off-the-bone type (: i think the sauce could be improved on though! what i liked most about this was actually the steamed vegetables that came with it haha.

we were pretty shocked at the outback sirloin ($29.90) when it arrived at our table. it looked small! O.O usually steaks are of a pretty standard size aren't they? this one was smaller than usual though, and kind of put me off with it's appearance. but the taste made up for it! :D the beef was tender, with just the right amount of fat and juice. and it was wonderfully marinated that i loved it on its own, without having to pour on the brown sauce (which was kinda salty). lovely (:

Must tries: pan-seared darling point crab cakes, aussie cheese fries

I've read the mixed reviews of this place and have to say as my title suggests. No matter how bad you think it is , someone else probably thought it was the exact opposite. They've been at this location for what 10 years? The furniture is defintely showing the strain .

I am not eactly what u will call a fan. I dine here like once every other year or so. They r not cheap nor the best at what they do. Yet, it's an alternative hence the once in every other year visit. I like appetizers coz they r deep fried and hence nice! LOL..so much for healthy eating. But that't not why I come here now is it? I noticed the onion rings are presented differently now. No major issues coz taste is still pretty ok. Cheese fries needs a tad more cheese but the crispy texture of the fries are a plus! Bettered shrooms were execellent. Wings were also pretty good.

Steak salad is a nice compormise...the ribs were also good. No funny smells or over the top bbq sauce to assault your taste buds.

The only minor hiccup is the service. Forgetful staff and do pay attention to your so called 'bottomless' drinks. They screwed mine up. I was charged one drink extra but it's ok, I 've let that one slide. Smiles and courtesy are never an issue though.

I'll probably return until I find the furntiure and space an issue. I guess if MOS burger fails, Outback can always get that space back....

I have read reviews before trying this place and was pleasantly surprised great steak had the 11oz Outback Sirloin,  though slightly burnt. Potato soup, side dishes Rice Pilaf and Garlic Mashed Potato a must try, Ice lemon Tea was a let down, think it was Season's Tea'  should be home made Australian style. Spent $98 for two, skipped desserts

The overall service was below expectations last Sunday but the food was below standard....  I thought the food was ok so I did not bother  but after I had the chicken wing, I got sick all day yesterday and even today...   I don't understand how the place was trained and service  but it was really disappointing....

It was nearing 10pm and we didn't quite know where to go since most of the restos in the Suntec area were closing. A quick check led us to Outback and the promise of a good steak was just too good to miss.

Honestly the food was sub-par. For an 8z rib eye costing $34.90 I could have had a much better meal elsewhere. The steak was a let-down from the marinade, to the grilling not to mention the limp sauce on the side. There was simply no oomph to the slab of beef at all. My partner had the 8z prime rib which was also disappointing.

The best part of the meal? The 1-for-1 root beer floats at $8.90 each.

I was surprised to see the place pretty packed even at 10.30pm. Do not see myself returning - the total cost of the bill of $91 could be better spent elsewhere honestly.

    1. wonderdoggy outback is an american mid-tier chain. Portions are much bigger and beef much better in the USA. Don't bother with the Spore place guys....

I saw some very negative reviews here but fortunately was not my case ... question of luck ?!

Staff was very friendly and attentive. Our first round of coke was quite lousy and the waitress promptly apologized and brought new glasses.

For food we did order the mad max burger. It was one of the best burger have tried in Singapore. Good as quality and cooking.

We also ordered the fries with cheese and bacon, very yummy !

I don't really come often in this area but if one day I feel to get a nice burger sure will come back here.

    Must tries: mad max burger

I paid a maiden visit to this steakhouse upon invitation by my friend who wanted to have dinner there.

When I look at the menu, oh boy, I was a little put off by the exorbitant price.

I don't know about you, a portion of salmon or chicken (not even steak yet) will set you back at $29+.

So, since I'd would paying that amount, I might as well go for steak. I ordered Black Pepper Steak (cut into cubes) served with potato wedges and steamed vegetables.

For appetiser, we ordered fried breaded mushrooms, these are crunchy and juicy little bites, good.

The steak was well done and seasoned appropriately. I tried the mashed potatoes, it was mashed in with the skin, creamy and light though potatoes are not tasted as opposed to the ones made at home.

Service was ok, hard to get their attention eventhough it was quite a quiet evening.
